Rug Pull Detection - Mint & Freeze Authority Analysis
TokenForge now includes rug pull detection capabilities. It automatically checks the Mint Authority and Freeze Authority status of Solana SPL tokens, detecting risks related to supply manipulation and asset freezing.
Why Mint Authority is Dangerous
When Mint Authority is active on a token, the authority holder can create new tokens at any time. This can dilute the value of existing holders' tokens. Legitimate projects typically "revoke" the Mint Authority after the initial token distribution. When Mint Authority remains active, TokenForge flags it as CRITICAL risk.
Freeze Authority Risk
When Freeze Authority is active, the authority holder can freeze token transfers for any wallet. This means you could be unable to sell tokens you purchased. This is a common technique used in honeypot scams. Active Freeze Authority is classified as HIGH risk.
Detection Logic
- C1: MINT_AUTHORITY_ACTIVE - Mint authority has not been revoked (CRITICAL -30 points)
- H1: FREEZE_AUTHORITY_ACTIVE - Freeze authority is active (HIGH -15 points)
These detections use data directly from Solana RPC, so they are available even on the free plan without any API keys.
Impact on Risk Score
TokenForge uses a 100-point risk scoring system. Active Mint Authority deducts 30 points, and active Freeze Authority deducts 15 points. A token with both active would score 55 or below, classifying it as HIGH risk or worse.
How to Identify Safe Tokens
When scanning with TokenForge, tokens that show both Mint Authority and Freeze Authority as "revoked" are safe from this particular risk. However, we recommend also checking other risk factors such as LP vulnerabilities and whale concentration for a comprehensive assessment.
